Welcome to

'' a little bit of unspoiled Maine ''

If you want to know the 'real Maine' where fishing and lobstering have been a way of life for generations, where the lighthouse still guides ships safely home, come to Port Clyde.

The Seaside Inn Bed and Breakfast overlooks the harbor here in Port Clyde, a tiny fishing village in the mid-coast town of St. George.  Experience old fashioned comfort and Down East hospitality in a restored sea captain's home.  Gaze out across the harbor from our tiny cupola, five stories above the village below.  Watch the lobstermen and fishermen head out to sea and bring in their catch on the docks across the way.  Visit the lighthouse or the quiet beach, each only a mile up the road.   Be sure to bring your camera, your sketchbook, your paints and brushes or your journal; artists of all kinds find inspiration in Port Clyde.

Room rates at the Seaside Inn include free wi-fi internet access; guest parking; a hearty, full breakfast overlooking the harbor; TV in the fireplaced guest library; and coffee and tea any time.  Choose from eight comfortable guestrooms, most with private baths, many with water views, and all with amenities that help you feel at home - like down-alternative comforters and lots of plump pillows; alarm clock radios; spa-quality bathrobes; body wash; shampoo and hair dryers.

We offer personal service, warm hospitality, simple coastal charm and great value.

When you get to Port Clyde, park your car and stow your keys.

Stroll around our tiny village and let yourself unwind.

Remember when going on vacation meant getting away from it all?  Reading books, doing jigsaw puzzles, taking long walks, relaxing by the fire?  Cell phone service is very limited in Port Clyde and we like it that way.  Though you might catch a signal out on the dock, it might not last.  We suggest you turn off your cell phone during your stay.  Friends and family can always leave a message for you by calling the Seaside Inn.

About Port Clyde

"Early to bed, Early to rise"

The day starts early in Port Clyde.  As soon as the catch comes in, lobstermen and fishermen are busy unloading the boats while others are heading out to sea.  You probably won't be able to sleep 'late' in Port Clyde, please remember this is a working fishing harbor - one of the few left in Maine.  Our sidewalks roll up early (except for the Harpoon Restaurant and Bar open 'til around midnight Wednesday through Sunday.)  You may want to bring earplugs, or turn up your fan for 'white noise', if you are sensitive to outside sounds like seagulls calling to one another.  While you are here, try to wake with the sun, sleep with the moon.

While you're here, be sure to visit Marshall Point Lighthouse

On a winding road just under a mile from the Inn, Marshall Point Light is one of the most photographed and painted lighthouses in Maine. The lighthouse and grounds can be visited year-round and the former lightkeeper's house is now a museum open to the public in season.

Drift Inn Beach, a small sandy beach with rocky tidal pools and lots of driftwood, is a quick drive or a short walk away.

If Monhegan Island beckons, the Seaside Inn is just across the road from Monhegan Boatline.  The inn is also across the road from Port Clyde Kayaks and the Port Clyde General Store.

If you want to explore more of the mid-coast, a short drive brings you to the restaurants, shops, movie theatres and museums of Rockland, Thomaston and Camden. For longer day trips, Port Clyde is also a great home base for a day trip to LLBean and the outlet stores of Freeport, or the beauty of Bar Harbor.

Summer rates are $109 to $155
Quiet Season rates are $100 to $125

These things will help keep you comfortable if the weather is wet (which it CAN be on short notice) and you'll still be able to enjoy what the area has to offer.
